Welcome to Squoovi. These Terms of Service explain the rules for using Squoovi’s website, accounts, event listings, organization tools, and related services.
Squoovi is a local event discovery platform that helps people find events, activities, organizations, venues, and community happenings. Squoovi is currently focused on Lethbridge and surrounding areas, but users and organizations from other parts of Canada may access or use the site.
By creating an account, browsing Squoovi, saving events, creating an organization profile, requesting access to an organization, submitting an event, or using any part of the website, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree with these Terms, you should not use Squoovi.
1. About Squoovi
Squoovi provides tools for discovering and sharing event information. This may include event listings, map pins, event pages, saved events, organization profiles, organizer dashboards, newsletters, and other features.
Unless clearly stated otherwise, Squoovi does not organize, operate, host, sponsor, manage, supervise, or guarantee the events listed on the website. Event details are usually provided by organizers, venues, public sources, or users with permission to submit event information.
Squoovi tries to keep event information helpful and accurate, but event details may change. Users should confirm important information, such as dates, times, prices, age requirements, accessibility, cancellation status, and venue rules, directly with the event organizer or venue before attending.
2. Who Can Use Squoovi
You may use Squoovi if you can legally agree to these Terms.
If you are under the age of majority in your province or territory, you should use Squoovi only with permission from a parent or legal guardian. If you create an account, submit information, or use organizer tools while under the age of majority, you confirm that you have permission from a parent or legal guardian.
Squoovi may refuse, suspend, restrict, or remove access if we believe an account is being used in a way that violates these Terms, creates risk, misuses the platform, or may harm Squoovi, users, organizers, venues, or the public.
3. Accounts
Some features may require an account, including saving events, managing profile information, creating or joining an organization, submitting events, or using organizer tools.
When creating an account, you agree to provide accurate information and keep your account information up to date. You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity that happens through your account.
You should not:
- create an account using false or misleading information;
- use someone else’s account without permission;
- share your login details with people who should not have access;
- impersonate another person, organization, venue, business, nonprofit, public body, or community group;
- use Squoovi to post false, misleading, spammy, harmful, or unauthorized content.
If you believe someone has accessed your account without permission, contact Squoovi as soon as possible.
4. Email Verification and Account Status
Squoovi may require email verification before certain account features are available.
Squoovi may use account statuses such as email unverified, active, suspended, deactivated, pending deletion, or deleted. These statuses may affect what you can do on the website.
Squoovi may suspend or restrict an account if we believe the account is being misused, violates these Terms, creates safety or security concerns, or may harm the platform or other users.
5. Regular User Features
Regular users may be able to browse events, save events, choose city preferences, follow cities, select favourite categories, manage account information, and use other discovery features.
Saved events and preferences are provided for convenience. Squoovi does not guarantee that saved events will remain available, unchanged, or active. Events may be updated, cancelled, removed, archived, or become unavailable.
6. Organizer Accounts and Organization Profiles
Squoovi separates personal user accounts from organization profiles.
A personal account belongs to the person logging in. An organization profile represents a business, nonprofit, venue, community group, public body, club, association, or other organization that may submit or manage events.
If you create, claim, join, or manage an organization profile, you confirm that:
- you are authorized to represent or help manage that organization on Squoovi;
- the organization information you provide is accurate and not misleading;
- you will not create a false, duplicate, misleading, or unauthorized organization profile;
- you will keep organization contact, location, website, and social information reasonably up to date;
- you will follow Squoovi’s Organizer Agreement and any organizer rules shown during the setup process.
Squoovi may review, reject, edit, suspend, restrict, merge, transfer, or remove organization profiles if we believe they are inaccurate, unauthorized, misleading, inactive, duplicated, harmful, or in violation of these Terms.
Creating an organization profile does not guarantee that the organization is verified, trusted, endorsed, sponsored, or approved by Squoovi.
7. Organization Members and Roles
Organizations may have members with different roles, such as Owner, Manager, or Event Coordinator.
Owners and managers may have access to tools for managing organization information, event listings, member access, and requests to join the organization. Event Coordinators may have more limited access.
Organization owners and managers are responsible for managing access carefully. If a person no longer works with or represents the organization, an authorized owner or manager should remove that person’s organization access.
Removing someone from an organization does not automatically delete that person’s personal Squoovi account.
Squoovi may keep records of organization access requests, approvals, declines, removals, and related membership changes for security, accountability, support, and dispute-resolution purposes.
8. Event Listings and Submissions
Organizers may submit events to Squoovi. Event submission features may include drafts, previews, review steps, publishing tools, and approval workflows.
When submitting an event, you confirm that:
- the event is real;
- the event information is accurate to the best of your knowledge;
- you have authority to submit or manage the event listing;
- the event title, description, images, dates, times, location, links, pricing, and other details are not false or misleading;
- the event is appropriate for public listing on Squoovi;
- the event does not violate these Terms or Squoovi’s Event Posting Guidelines.
Squoovi may review, approve, reject, edit, archive, unpublish, or remove event listings at any time.
Squoovi may reject or remove events that are false, misleading, spammy, duplicated, unsafe, inappropriate, illegal, discriminatory, hateful, sexually explicit, exploitative, threatening, harassing, or otherwise not suitable for the platform.
Squoovi may also remove or decline listings that do not fit the current local event-discovery purpose of the website.
9. Event Accuracy and Changes
Event details can change. Organizers are responsible for keeping event information accurate and updating listings when details change.
Squoovi is not responsible for cancelled events, changed event times, incorrect venue information, ticketing issues, admission decisions, weather impacts, travel costs, personal expenses, third-party fees, or experiences at events.
Users should verify important details directly with the organizer, venue, ticketing provider, or official event source before attending or making plans.
10. Tickets, Payments, and Third-Party Services
Squoovi may link to third-party websites, ticketing services, venues, social media pages, maps, organizer websites, payment processors, or other external services.
Squoovi is not responsible for third-party websites, ticket purchases, refunds, fees, availability, policies, privacy practices, security, or content.
If you use a third-party service, that service’s own terms and policies apply.
Unless Squoovi clearly states otherwise, buying a ticket, registering for an event, donating, making a purchase, or contacting an organizer happens outside of Squoovi and is between you and the third party.
11. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Squoovi to:
- break the law or encourage illegal activity;
- post false, misleading, fraudulent, or deceptive information;
- impersonate another person or organization;
- submit events without permission;
- upload content you do not have the right to use;
- harass, threaten, abuse, exploit, or harm others;
- post hateful, discriminatory, sexually explicit, violent, graphic, or unsafe content;
- spam users, organizers, or the platform;
- scrape, copy, overload, attack, disrupt, or reverse engineer the website;
- upload viruses, malicious code, or harmful files;
- interfere with Squoovi’s security, operations, or infrastructure;
- use Squoovi in a way that damages the platform, other users, organizers, venues, or the public.
Squoovi may remove content or restrict access if we believe these rules are being violated.
12. Content You Submit
You may submit information, images, text, organization details, event listings, links, logos, profile photos, and other content to Squoovi.
You keep ownership of content you own. However, by submitting content to Squoovi, you give Squoovi permission to use, store, display, format, resize, publish, promote, distribute, and show that content as needed to operate, improve, and promote the platform.
This permission allows Squoovi to display your event listing, organization profile, image, logo, or other submitted content on the website, in event discovery features, in maps, in search results, in emails where allowed, and in related promotional or platform materials.
You confirm that you have the rights needed to submit the content and grant this permission.
You are responsible for the content you submit.
13. Squoovi Content and Intellectual Property
Squoovi’s website design, branding, logos, layouts, software, text, graphics, systems, features, and other platform materials belong to Squoovi or its licensors, unless stated otherwise.
You may use Squoovi for normal personal, community, or organizer purposes through the website. You may not copy, reproduce, resell, modify, distribute, or misuse Squoovi’s platform materials without permission.
14. Reviews, Edits, and Moderation
Squoovi may moderate accounts, organizations, event listings, images, descriptions, links, and other submitted content.
Squoovi may edit formatting, correct obvious mistakes, adjust categories, improve readability, remove unsafe or unsuitable material, reject listings, archive listings, or request more information.
Squoovi is not required to publish every submitted event or organization profile.
Squoovi may prioritize, feature, hide, sort, filter, or display events and organizations in different ways based on location, categories, dates, quality, trust status, sponsorship, relevance, platform testing, or other reasonable factors.
15. Featured Listings, Sponsored Content, and Future Paid Features
Squoovi may offer featured listings, sponsored placements, advertising, paid promotion, subscription tools, or other paid services in the future.
If paid features are added, additional terms, prices, billing rules, cancellation rules, and advertising or sponsorship disclosures may apply.
Squoovi will not guarantee attendance, sales, clicks, saves, engagement, or results from any event listing, featured placement, advertisement, or promotional feature unless a separate written agreement clearly says otherwise.
16. Email, Notifications, and Newsletters
Squoovi may send account-related emails, such as email verification, password reset, account status, security, organization access, event submission, and important service messages.
Some emails are necessary to operate accounts and organizer tools.
Squoovi may also offer optional newsletters, event recommendations, marketing emails, or local event updates. These optional emails should only be sent where Squoovi has consent or another lawful basis to send them.
Users should be able to unsubscribe from optional marketing or newsletter emails. Unsubscribing from optional emails does not stop necessary account, security, transactional, or service-related emails.
More details may be provided in Squoovi’s Newsletter & Email Consent Policy.
17. Privacy
Squoovi collects, uses, and protects personal information as described in the Squoovi Privacy Policy.
By using Squoovi, you understand that Squoovi may collect and use information needed to operate the website, provide accounts, verify email addresses, manage organizations, display events, save preferences, send allowed emails, prevent misuse, improve the platform, and comply with legal obligations.
Please read the Privacy Policy carefully.
18. Availability and Changes to the Website
Squoovi is still growing and may change over time.
Squoovi may add, remove, update, pause, test, redesign, limit, or discontinue features at any time. Squoovi may also temporarily or permanently stop operating parts of the website.
Squoovi does not guarantee that the website will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or compatible with every device, browser, or network.
19. Account Deactivation, Deletion, and Suspension
Users may request account deletion or deactivation where available.
Squoovi may keep certain information where reasonably needed for legal, security, fraud prevention, support, backup, audit, dispute-resolution, or legitimate business purposes. For example, Squoovi may keep records related to organization access, event submissions, content moderation, suspensions, approvals, removals, and consent history.
Suspended accounts may be kept rather than fully deleted if Squoovi needs to preserve information for safety, security, abuse prevention, investigation, or dispute-resolution purposes.
More details may be provided in the Privacy Policy.
20. Disclaimers
Squoovi is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
To the fullest extent allowed by applicable law, Squoovi does not make guarantees about:
- the accuracy, completeness, or availability of event listings;
- whether an event will happen as described;
- organizer reliability;
- venue conditions;
- ticket availability;
- third-party websites or services;
- map accuracy;
- search results;
- user or organizer conduct;
- uninterrupted or error-free website operation.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to remove rights that cannot legally be excluded under applicable consumer protection, privacy, or other laws in your province or territory.
21. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent allowed by applicable law, Squoovi and its owners, operators, contractors, service providers, and affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or similar damages, including lost profits, lost data, lost opportunities, reputational harm, travel costs, ticket costs, or event-related expenses.
To the fullest extent allowed by applicable law, Squoovi’s total liability for any claim related to the website or these Terms will be limited to the greater of:
- the amount you paid directly to Squoovi for the specific service giving rise to the claim in the three months before the claim; or
- $100 CAD.
This limitation does not apply where the law does not allow such limits.
22. Responsibility for Your Use of Squoovi
You agree that you are responsible for how you use Squoovi, the content you submit, and your interactions with organizers, venues, users, and third-party services.
If your misuse of Squoovi, violation of these Terms, unauthorized content, or unlawful conduct causes claims, losses, damages, costs, or expenses, you may be responsible for those consequences to the extent allowed by law.
23. Changes to These Terms
Squoovi may update these Terms from time to time.
When changes are made, Squoovi may update the effective date and version number. If changes are important, Squoovi may provide notice through the website, email, account dashboard, or another reasonable method.
Continuing to use Squoovi after updated Terms take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
If you do not agree with updated Terms, you should stop using Squoovi and may request account deletion where available.
24. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, unless the laws of your province or territory require otherwise.
Nothing in these Terms limits rights that you may have under laws that cannot be waived, including applicable consumer protection, privacy, electronic communications, or other laws in your province or territory.
